Escada is a German fashion brand that was formed by husband and wife-team Margaretha and Wolfgang Ley in 1978. Margaretha Ley was originally from Sweden and in her youth she had been a modelled before turning to tailoring, working for the German brand Mondi for many years. Wolfgang was a clever businessman with a great sense of style. Starting out in Munich, their first collection quickly made an impact with bright and colourful designs and intricate patterns. They wanted their clothes to be both elegant and sporty, making sure the creations were as stylish as they were comfortable and dynamic.
