Mont Blanc, a German luxury goods company renowned for its high-quality pens and watches, was founded in 1908. In the 1970s, when the Dunhill company acquired a majority stake in Mont Blanc, another company by the name of the Richemont Group decided to take over the entire acquisition alongside other luxury goods houses such as Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels.

Mont Blanc launched its first-ever fragrance in 2001 called Presence, a delicately sweet Oriental and woody fragrance for women. The male version of Presence was released shortly after, offering the male counterpart a sumptuously warm and spicy bouquet to complement the female version.

Mont Blanc often launches a new fragrance alongside a new collection of luxury goods, such as the Time Walker watch collection, the launch of which in 2005 was accompanied by the now-popular men's fragrance Star Walker.
