The Brand Nina Ricci was founded by Italian fashion designer Maria Nielli. She has been known as Nina Ricci ever since. In 1932 she opened her first Nina Ricci boutique at 20 Rue the Capucines in Paris and managed her company together with her son Robert. Robert Ricci took care of the business side of the company but also took a dedicated interest in the world of fragrances. 

It was Robert Ricci who introduced the legendary fragrance line the company is popular for today. The L ‘Air Du Temps perfume made Nina Ricci famous, and its complex composition of delicately balanced notes remains one of the brand's bestsellers to this day.
